Found my solution: Do not activate option "use this connection only for
resources of its network" to be found in "Routes ..." of tab "IPv4
Settings". Unchecking this option solved my problems on 10.10 as well as
in 11.04.

Thus, there is no bug at all from my point of view.

However, I would suggest a warning when choosing that option; e.g.
"Beware of the consequences of  'use this connection only for resources
of its network' because you will see vpn connections only in a specific
network part."
