I have the same problem I think. My PC is a Acer 8943G laptop. It stops in the
middle of the boot after about 25 sec with a BUG when using the Linux version
2.6.38-8-generic (buildd@allspice) (gcc version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro
4.5.2-8ubuntu3) ) #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011 (Ubuntu
2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2) kernel.
If I boot with the Linux version 2.6.35-28-generic (buildd@allspice)
(gcc version 4.4.5 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.4.4-14ubuntu5) ) #50-Ubuntu SMP Fri
Mar 18 18:42:20 UTC 2011 (Ubuntu 2.6.35-28.50-generic 2.6.35.11) kernel
it boot well.
I have attached kern.log with the boot processes failing and the one who
works ok as well as :sudo lshw -C display ; lsb_release -a ; uname -a
(after a ok boot with 2.6.35-28-generic)
