** Description changed: Binary package hint: ubiquity I'm not sure if this is already programmed into the Installation process and I know nothing about programming or scripting. A thorough checking process could be initialised after Ubuntu has been installed. That is: it checks the integrity of the files and sees if the files are corrupted or if all the components have been installed properly. If the files fail the integrity check, Ubuntu tries to reformat and run the installation process again. + (Edit: Also, an afterthought. Could this matter be related to the cd-rom + drive trying to read the cd as fast as possible? Perhaps if so, the + developers could force the cd to be read at only a certain speed and + below? That is: detect the cd-rom drive read rate and force it to read + the cd around 3/4 of its' read speed.) + This is because I was unfortunate enough to get a corrupted installation (my first time installing Ubuntu, even!) and had to reinstall the operating system. I'm quite sure many others have shared a similar experience.
