I tried to do what David said about the "Analog mix" setting, and did not find one in my alsamixer. However, when I played with the "Mic boost" setting, I noticed that it doesn't correspond correctly to the setting in the "Sound preferences" GUI menu.
When you lower it all the way down and get it back up to 100 in the alsamixer, the "Input volume" slider in the sound preferences GUI doesn't go all the way to 100%, but stays somewhere near 25%. And in this setting the microphone works perfectly with no background sounds at all - I have just tested it with my colleague over skype. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774559 Title: microphone doesn't work properly on Natty Narwhal -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
