Hi I have the same issue on Asus N73J laptop. Usb3 port doesn't work. Even generic Genius mouse doesn't work with this port. The error message is "xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.0: Timeout while waiting for a slot", followed by "hub 3-0:1.0: couldn't allocate port 2 usb_device".
