This issue has been resolved by users on the above forum post (thanks guys).
The fix is to replace the "cal" command with "ncal -C -h"
${font DejaVu Sans Mono :size=9}${execpi 60 ncal -C -h | sed '1d' | sed 's/$/
/' | sed 's/^/ /'}${font}
