On a Dell E6410 w/ BIOS A07 and Ubuntu 11.04 confirmed working - tab to left click - top right corner tap to right click - vertical scrolling
Other features may be possible with configuration, no time to test yet. As per earlier comment on 2010-11-08 this was NOT working with Ubuntu 10.10. If someone else can confirm this bug can probably be resolved ? cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=11.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=natty DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 11.04" uname -a Linux marvin 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux dmesg|grep -i alps [ 14.718528] alps.c: Enabled hardware quirk, falling back to psmouse-core [ 14.732733] input: ImPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input11 xinput list ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ ImPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint id=15 [slave pointer (2)] tpconfig -i Found Synaptics Touchpad.
