We installed the amd64 version. The other USB ports work fine after
installation; I'm not sure about the CD.

There's a major issue though with HDMI - you can only run either the
laptop screen (using the intel driver) or the HDMI screen (using
nouveau), but not both at the same time. This is because the HDMI is
attached to the nvidia card but the laptop screen is attached to the
Intel iGPU, and neither nouveau nor nvidia-current support this
configuration (it's called optimus and it sucks bigtime for Linux -
nvidia refuse to support it or to provide help to the nouveau
developers).
