It might not be the same bug, because on the bug you are referring, VLC is still running and showing some images, be it low quality and with frame drops.
As the first poster says, in this case VLC is NOT running but spitting out a SEGFAULT. My procedure to reproduce the bug : - Have a clean Maverick installed. - Add VLC - Add VDPAU/VAAPI support - Activate it in VLC - Do a "dist-upgrade" to upgrade to Natty => BUG : VLC is now segfaulting. I don't know if it does the same starting with a clean install (not tried it).
