Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When a tar.bz archive has a space character in the archive name, the
archive will be allways extracted to a folder with the name
*.tar.bz2_FILES.

For example:
We have an archive named "archive.tar.bz2" which contains a file named
"help.txt".
If you extract the archive by clicking on extract here in nautilus, you will
have the file "help.txt" in the current folder of the file system.
Now we rename the archive to "my archive.tar.bz2", then our file will be
extracted into a sub folder named "my archive.tar.bz2_FILE".

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
