Hey, just got the same issue. Recently updated to Ubuntu 11.04 and after opening the sound-configuration-window there is a blank terminal popping up an this crappy computer-voice telling me something like "welcome ....".
I cannot close this terminal-window, too. Every time I try to close ist, it is reopening instantly, playing the electronic voice again. If I can help solving this issue, please let me know.
