Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
Actually there wasn't a whole lot of information I could give you. In
response to the minimum information you need below:
 1. The action I took to cause the problem was to upgrade to 11.04.
 2. The behavior I expected was to be able to read the text in the Top
or Title Bar, whichever you choose to call it.
 3. The behavior I encountered was the "black menu fonts on the black
Top Bar background".
I looked in every dialog box to find a setting for the color of the Top
Bar fonts but found nothing that worked. So I downloaded and installed
the driver for my graphics card. The system said that the driver was
"Active but not in use". That was real helpful too. So I did what I
should have done all along--hosed Natty, reloaded Maverick from scratch
and restored my backup files. Now things work like they should.
I guess my real problem was "not reading the write-ups on Natty prior to
performing the upgrade". Had I done that, I would have left things
alone. Like they say,"If it aint broke, don't fix it."
