You think this is a good idea to cut off legs without having the new path working? Usually there should be waited until the applications support the new thing too and then - when the applications got it (right) then cut off the old stuff, that is then not needed any more.
In Linux history I remember it was always done that way and good it was. Now you are cutting off the legs Ubuntu stands on. Sorry, but I can't get it. Simply putting this to invalid is another tear drop in my eyes. I invested a lot of time in testing, spreading the word etc etc - now seeing the many things that do go wrong since 11.04 seems like a slam into my face. And ignoring the community is the wrong way.
