I have this same problem on 2 different Sony VAIO laptops, a VGN-A250 and a PCG-K25. On both machines - the LED is stuck on ... no automount, just detection.
Is there a HAL fix for this? Apr 21 13:54:59 vgn-a250 kernel: [ 51.752000] sonypi: Sony Programmable I/O Controller Driver v1.26.
