kripkenstein: remove the nvdia-glx-new package. Check that ls -al /lib/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.17-11-generic/ doesn't show a left over .nvidia_new_installed file. If it does then remove .nvidia_new_installed and install nvidia-glx (see Bug #106217 )
