nZain, the reason Drop Caps has a gray background is to delineate that
the character(s) or word is a Drop Cap. The gray background does not
persist if one prints the page or exports to PDF. However, if your
looking for something different, this is not really a bug and requires
more discussion, which should be done on the LibreOffice mailing list:
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/ If this is not
something you want to see changed feel free to mark this bug Invalid.
