Public bug reported:
Installation went okay (this time).
However, when I log in I get a dark brown screen for two minutes, then
the spinner-thing (Ubuntu's "hourglass"), the screen goes black and then
dark brown again ... and then I'm returned to the login screen.
I can log in in "text mode" if I do ctrl-alt-F1, and I can rsync to the
box I'm typing on now, so I'm poised ready to send you folks any
information you might need; I'm afraid I don't know what to send,
though.
