Over the weekend I moved the suspect drive to the SATA controller and it
had the same errors. It looks like the drive errors were coincidental
with the upgrade, as after I rebooted a few times POST showed the SMART
status of the drive as failing. I checked using smartctl and it showed
the same. I installed a different drive and moved my data over and it
has been working without issue since then. Sorry for the false alarm!
