Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 11.04 from 10.10, the netbook hangs in boot. When
booting with the recovery option a great screen-load of dump data is
scrolled at the hang. Choosing "previous linux versions" from the boot
menu and then the 2.6.35-28-generic kernel makes the system boot
successfully.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10791929 is a thread about this
problem - experienced by many 1001 users I think.
