Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve
Ubuntu.

This has been fixed in subsequent releases of Ubuntu precisely the way
that you describe. It has not been fixed for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS because
the kernel included with 10.04 does not require this change. Since
2.6.38 kernels are not supported as part of 10.04 LTS, it is unlikely
that this will see an update for lucid.

Closing this bug in any case to indicate that it's fixed in the latest
release; if we decide for a stable release update, we will open a task
on lucid.

** Changed in: nfs-utils (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Fix Released
