Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: update-manager
i was upgrading my system from edgy to fiesty f awn and the update-
manager crashed while installing the perl-modules package. I can't open
the update-manager anymore as it says that my software index is broken.
It suggest using apt-get or synaptic to remedy the problem but i haven't
been able to properly install the perl-modules package nor have i been
able to remove it to start fresh. The error i get when trying to
install perl-modules is as follows:
Preparing to replace perl-modules 5.8.8-6 (using
.../perl-modules_5.8.8-7build1_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement perl-modules ...
dpkg-deb (subprocess): error in buffer_read(stream): failed to write to pipe in
copy: Input/output error
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste returned error exit status 2
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/perl-modules_5.8.8-7build1_all.deb (--unpack):
short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during
`./usr/share/perl/5.8.8/Text/Balanced.pm')
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/perl-modules_5.8.8-7build1_all.deb
is this a problem with the update-manager or is it the fault of perl-modules ?
