I am also having the same issue as users above on Gateway Laptop MX6550
But I am able to mount drives in VMware session running XP
Current work around to copy files from VMware session into temp
directory.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo mount /dev/hdc /media/cdrom0
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
