Everything is already said.
It's never a good idea to push a new interface where you loose funcionality and 
usability, the only real advantage being (dubious) cosmetic reasons. It can be 
a perfect UI for tables and such but not for real desktop users. It's such a 
broken thing that I am not even able to discuss every wrong decision.
If / when the only default option is Unity, (it seems that'll be on natty+1), 
I'll be sorry having to look for another distribution or fork.
