The problem is num lock getting turned on. In my laptop when num lock is
on characters such as U,I,O,P,J,K,L,M gets translated as
4,5,6,*,1,2,3,0.

And while trying to login in tty2 I was able to turn off num lock and
login, in graphical mode that wasn't possible.

This bug might have escaped to those who use desktops but I use a IBM
N3000 laptop.

Solution :

Auto turn off numlock while loging in after suspension

OR

modify software so that it displays num lock is on and lets user to turn
off num lock by pressing numlock button.

Another question is why is num lock getting turned on after suspension?
