Following my previous post I transfered my data to Mint to avoid the problem and the USB pendrives worked fine with no problem, I was able to connect, update data and remove them successfully.
Then I made the mistake of updating the Mint system with all the past updates from Ubuntu. Immediately I had a problem with the USB sticks. I tried to safely remove the pendrive and it came up with a message from X -nautilus-desktop to say an application was keeping the drive busy. This is exactly what happened before in Ubuntu and I wonder if this indicates there is a problem in a recent update to Nautilus? It gave me the option to unmount anyway but I declined and shutdown Mint and disconnected the drive. This was successful and maybe this is a workaround until a solution is found. I attach a screen print of the error message. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/779735/+attachment/2128969/+files/Screenshot.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779735 Title: Natty doesn't detect external USB harddisk drive -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
