Bard, this issue is unreproducible in LibreOffice Writer via the
Terminal:
cd ~/Desktop && wget
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/433506/+attachment/732154/+files/TeachingAds1.odt
&& lowriter -nologo TeachingAds1.odt
opens quickly and successfully. Does this work for you?
