Here’s what I found out so far:

When accessing vino on Ubuntu 10.04 from both vinagre on 10.04 and
11.04, I experience a problem with not all key presses being
transmitted. It seems not to be actually the case that a wrong keyboard
layout is applied, since the keys that are transmitted are correct. But
not all key presses are transmitted, e.g. umlauts (ä,ö,ü), the euro sign
etc. are not displayed on the server. So it somehow seems that only
ascii (?) keycodes are received on the server, but using the correct
keyboard layout.

When accessing vino on Ubuntu 11.04 from vinagre on 10.04, all keys work
correctly.

Thus, for me it currently seems that the issue is within vino, but
apparently was fixed in the version that shipps with Ubuntu 11.04.

@georg.hoermann: Does this match your observations?
