The log in this bug report indicates that you have removed grub2 from
your system in favor of grub1 without configuring it for use. This is
not a bug in grub, but a configuration error. Either you need to
install grub1 to your MBR and configure the package for use, or you
should reinstall the recommended grub2 bootloader by running this
command in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install grub-pc
