This bug seems to be caused by different network drivers being built against different versions of usbnet (and is still present in 10.04).
With the linux-backports-modules-wireless package you get a usbnet.ko that gets loaded instead of the usbnet.ko that is supplied with the kernel package and the drivers from those packages that uses usbnet.ko will conflict. On my system (10.04) I have these /lib/modules/2.6.32-31-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/usbnet.ko /lib/modules/2.6.32-31-generic/updates/compat-wireless-2.6.34/usbnet.ko and the asix driver /lib/modules/2.6.32-31-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/asix.ko will only work with the first usbnet.ko but the system will always load the second usbnet.ko -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382297 Title: D-Link DUB-E100 USB Ethernet adapter not working in hardy -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
