Binary package hint: debian-installer
I'm installing 7.04 using the Alternate Installer onto a system that
already has Software Raid partitions configured. The motherboard has 3
different SATA controllers in use which may be complicating things.
The drives all seem to be detected fine as follows (apologies for any
omissions in my handwritten notes)
SCSI1 (0,0,0) - SDA - 500G
SCSI7 (0,0,0) - SDB - 140G
SCSI7 (0,1,0) - SDC - 300G
SCSI8 (0,0,0) - SDD - 140G
SCSI8 (0,1,0) - SDE - 300G
Ubuntu is to be installed into an existing 10 gig RAID1 partition on the
two 140 gig drives. There is also a second RAID1 partition on those
drives using up the rest of the space, which is to be mounted as
storage, as are the other single drives. One of the 140 gig drives is
set as the primary boot device in the bios and was being used for SUSE
prior to attempting the install.
When booting after the install GRUB complains about a File Not Found
error. Editing the grub boot options and changing the root line from
(hd1,0) to (hd0,0) allows the system to boot.
