There is some race in the system initialization.

On a laptop (natty, kubuntu 64bit, with LVM) every 10 boots I am getting
at least once the message that

The disc drive for /home is not ready yet or not present

to boot, one needs to get to the recovery shell and manually mount the
disk.


This IMHO is very critical stuff...

If it happens on a laptop, you can always recover or simply reboot.
But if it happens on a server that is rebooted remotely (e.g. after a kernel 
update), having the server not coming up after the reboot is a very bad stuff, 
causing a very long downtime.
