hello Fabio,

first, thanks for following up on this, and all your hard work.

i did not take care to save anything when i filed the bug report (it was my
first time, and was just following the menu)... and when you requested more
information, i had forgotten which of my several Linux machines running
Lucid i had reported the error from. i figured out today it was one of the
two i have at work (a desktop, and a laptop).

when i ran the search for "EH complete", my desktop showed no matches on any
of the /var/log/dmesg* files (i unzipped them all - same results).

but when i did the same on my laptop, i did get matches in each of the
dmesg* logfiles, consisting of the single line:

      ata3: EH complete

but in *none* of the cases was this match preceeded by the "end_request:
I/O error" message you showed - in fact, i case-insensitive grep'ed all the
dmesg* logs, and found no matches for that string ("end_req").

so i conclude that the bug must have been from linux laptop (64-bit lucid,
with an encrypted harddisk), but that additional information that might be
helpful may have aged off the drive a while ago - i typically reboot the
laptop twice a day.

I'm sorry that i didn't capture anything useful. I notice that you sent me
another email today (requesting i attach the dmesg log); i'll respond to
that message in a minute, with the latest dmesg.

but again, i'm sorry i can't provide anything useful. should it happen
again, i'll be sure to save dmesg, syslog, and any other log that might be
useful (same goes for any future bug i report).

i admire your dedication, and really appreciate your interest in helping
make Ubuntu even greater!

thanks,
steve froelich
