I can also confirm this bug. I am running Kubuntu 11.04 64 bit. I have
an Nvidia 9600m GT. Effects seem to be working, albeit, a little more
sluggish than I remember in Maverick. Under Jockey, (version current)
[recommended] "This driver is activated but not currently in use". I ran
glxgears and reports back 2300 but seems a little sluggish. Under Nvidia
X Server Settings, it reports that I am using driver ver. 270.41.06.
"sudo lshw -C display" gives me this:
*-display
description: VGA compatible controller
product: G96 [GeForce 9600M GT]
vendor: nVidia Corporation
physical id: 0
bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0

capabilities: pm msi pciexpress vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom
configuration: driver=nvidia latency=0

memory:d0000000-d1ffffff ioport:7000(size=128)
Also of note, I remember during the fresh install of Kubuntu, it hung
through the install. I also installed Compiz and is unusable, Emerald
won't load using compiz-fusion-icon. This didn't happen in Maverick.
"grep drv\.so /var/log/Xorg.0.log" gives this:

"unity_support_test -p" will not run, since this is KDE.
