After upgrading to feisty boots take a long time, it's stuck at the very
first position of the progress bar, and this seems to be what's causing
it:

I should note I have two CD-ROM drives hooked up on ata2 (i.e. secondary
IDE channel) but only one is visible in the device manager. it is an "
_NEC     DVD_RW ND-2510A  2.15 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5".

Bug 96104 might be related, but I'm not sure.

Googling has revealed that there might be patches available that fix
this issue for some drives:
