Thanks for your effort to help making Ubuntu better by reporting this
issue. Based on the report date and your description I suppose that it
was Lucid you installed.
Quite a few things have been altered in both language-selector and gdm
since. For that reason it would be valuable to know if the latest
release, Natty, suffers from the same issue. Do you possibly have the
opportunity to try reproducing the problem using Natty?
