I am extremely pleased to be able to tell you guys that the latest
release (1104) seems to have fixed all my problems:
1. screen resolution faults, leading to
2. having to login in safe mode, leading to
* no wifi (although ethernet worked OK)
* being unable to run system updates in graphics mode
I now have a usable system
Thanks for all your efforts
Peter
