Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager
I created an ad-hoc wifi network with Network Manager by going to "edit
connection", selecting the "wireless" tab clicking "Add" and selecting
"ad hoc".
I usually can connect to it by going to "connect to hidden network" and
selecting it from the list. However, sometimes it fails to connect: the
wave icon keeps looping over and over forever and the connection is
never established.
Note that the ad hoc network is not something that can be available or
unavailable, so connecting to it cannot fail by definition. It makes no
sense.
