I've downloaded the Oneiric build of xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (note:
I discovered that my laptop can handle 64-bit, so I'm now using the
AMD64 version of Ubuntu), and it works fine in Natty. And yes, it does
resolve the problem. Before, when viewed using "xinput query-state",
with the cursor in the bottom-right corner, it would read 1023 and 767,
now it reads (currently dual screening) 2463 and 899, which is just
right.

Thank you, Bryce.
