Rcrook9190 -- my MacBook Pro is a 5,4, which there weren't any firmware updates
for, either.
But I went to "About This Mac" under the Apple icon and saw that the last
firmware update was for the 5,3, so downloaded that & re-flashed with that, and
it was fine after that.
And yes, this is a very serious bug -- and how bloody ironic that it happens in
the version of Ubuntu that looks most like OSX to date? :)
FWIW, I've given up, for now. I've got my computer working again, so I can do
my job, and for my personal C++ coding I'm using clang. I'd rather be on Ubuntu
using the latest GCC, but I've fairly had the fight knocked out of me for the
time being.
Maybe the next release, eh?
