Have you tried installing/upgrading to either 10.10, or 11.04? A lot of
fixes have gone into pulseaudio for those releases, particularly 11.04,
so there is a good chance your issue is fixed.
Please consider testing with 11.04, and report back as to whether the
issue still remains or is fixed.
