This is exactly what is displayed in terminal after banshee --debug.
The part starting: "An unhandled exception was thrown: Could not read add-in
description" pop-ups in gui window.
Previous version of Banshee and extensions 1.8... was running without any
problem on my system.
The problem started after update to Banshee 2.0.1 from this repository:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/banshee-team/ppa/ubuntu maverick main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/banshee-team/ppa/ubuntu maverick main
I updated because of this fix release:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee-community-extensions/+bug/695043

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/banshee-team/ppa/ubuntu maverick main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/banshee-team/ppa/ubuntu maverick main

I use Julia 32-bit. (=maverick)

I reported the problem also on Mint launchpad, but it seems to be an upstream
problem, perhaps with mono.
