Hi Serge thanks for the prompt response and suggestion.....I tried it but I'm not sure it worked......please see the text below....

For some reason, your system does not have sed installed. This is worrisome because it is a dependency of lsb-base, which itself is 'required', meaning you absolutely should have it. Could you please try 'apt-get install sed lsb-base', and let us know (a) if that works and (b) if, after that, you are able to install samba- common? ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/788348 Title: package samba-common 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 Status in “samba” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: samba package failed to upgrade/install ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: samba-common 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Wed May 25 22:12:47 2011 ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Netbook 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release i386 (20101007) PackageArchitecture: all RelatedPackageVersions: nautilus 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13 gvfs 1.8.0-0ubuntu2 SambaClientRegression: Yes SourcePackage: samba Title: package samba-common 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-02 (23 days ago) To unsubscribe from this bug, go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/788348/+subscribe -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/788348 Title: package samba-common 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
