I want to be clear about this: even if the suppressing double-clicks
within .5 sec is an (IMO ill-conceived) feature, it’s unquestionably
wrong that the implementation continues to discard clicks after .5 sec
have passed.  I can keep clicking all day and the menu will _never go
away_ as long as I’m clicking fast enough.
