I was finally able to fix this. It's a simple regression in model detection
with snd-hda-intel. After switching to kernel 2.6.38-9 model detection still is
not working properly (as it did in Maverick) but I can force the correct model
in alsa-base.conf like suggested in many wikis, forums etc. (model detection
seems to be a well known problem with snd-hda-intel).
Maybe it's because of the newer kernel, that I can now force the model which I
tried as well without success before I filed this bug. Maybe I did something
else wrong in the first place.
However, model detection still seems to be a regression with Natty or its newer
kernels as auto-detection of my model worked with Maverick, but this is no real
bug so I changed the status to 'invalid'.
