   add-apt-repository ppa:serge-hallyn/kernel
   apt-get update
   apt-get dist-upgrade

will install the new kernel.

It sounds like this bug should be deemed low priority, especially since
there is a good workaround.  If this is a high-profile machine, and you
want to defer trying the test kernel, that's certainly understandable.
