Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gramps
I created a family database thing with gramps. Just to be sure (i had the same problem before and thought it was an installation problem), i saved the database as three different types of files: the normal one, GEDCOM, and something else. However, when I closed gramps and tried to open the three files, none of the files worked. I got the following error message (each with its respective filename, though): [code]Could not open file: /home/avi/family.grdb File type "x-extension-grdb" is unknown to GRAMPS. Valid types are: GRAMPS database, GRAMPS XML, GRAMPS package, and GEDCOM.[/code] At first, the GEDCOM file was detected as a GRAMPS-compatible file (although the GRAMPS still wouldn't open it). When I restarted the computer, however, the GEDCOM file was no longer detected as such. I use Ubuntu Dapper, GRAMPS 2.0.11-2, GNOME 2.14.3. I don't know if this would have any effect, but (before this happened), I was forced to reinstall ubuntu from the live install disk after edgy was (unwittingly) half-installed and I could only access ubuntu through the command line. Everything is working fine now except my sound and printer (which shouldn't affect this) and GRAMPS.
