I did install blender 2.5x and use it no problem.
The problem i do have is to keep the blender icon in the utility
sidebar.
I think the manual installer does not correctly place the shortcuts, if
anyone has a correct way to make the shortcut to the application and
make it stick to unity if (keep in Launcher) is selected, Please let us
know!
