  This causes big jumps in the brightness adjusting settings on Dell Inspiron 
9400 – I've seen other Inspirons having the same problem, too (10.10). As it 
says it's impossible to use it because it makes such BIG jumps between 100 % 
brightness and down to 50. Most often it jumps two steps at a time.
  What's this? A bug that's been around since 10.10 and not been fixed?
  
  About kernels: All kernels within each distributions have acted the
  same. The most recent ones in 10.04 have not caused any problems, and
  the oldest kernels with 10.10/11.04 creates these problems.
