I've got similar issue on my Dell Inspiron 6400. And I've tracked it down to intel wifi driver. I have iwl 5300 card installed - and as I can see at least some people here have intel wifi too. My system hangs during suspend, but if I do 'sudo rmmod iwlagn' it suspends/resumes fine. But I also have latest compat-wireless installed from source. You might also want to try 'sudo rmmod iwlagn iwlcore' Anyway, I'm not sure how this all related, but I think it might worth a try to isolate issue.
