Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-shell

I installed gnome-shell and gnome-themes-standard via the gnome3 ppa [1] and
it's fantastic, really good!
There's only one problem, I face with gnome-shell on amd64 and i386. There are
no umlauts in several gnome applications, e.g. gnome-terminal and all dialoges
of update-manager and gedit.

In the terminal, a "ß" is replaced by "ss" and all other German umlauts are
replaced by "?". If I want to update my Ubuntu, the update-manager shows me the
button "Pr?fen" (German word for "Check").
In Firefox, Eclipse and Empathy, all umlauts are working.
I tried updating the language settings, but all are correctly installed.

Here are the technical information:

Description: Ubuntu 11.04
Release: 11.04

gnome-shell:
  Installiert: 3.0.2-0ubuntu1~build1
  Kandidat: 3.0.2-0ubuntu1~build1
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 3.0.2-0ubuntu1~build1 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/gnome3-team/gnome3/ubuntu/ natty/main i386
Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I thought this is just a small error, but as it occurs on amd64 and
i386, I think it's severe.
